Who
discovered tea?
| The tea plants originated in
Southeast Asia circa 2700 BC, but it appears no documented record exists to show
who discovered tea. The most popular folklore relates that Chinese Emperor Shen
Neng, while boiling water one day, found that a leaf from a tea plant in his garden
wafted into his open pot. He brewed it and drank the concoction and loved it.
Four millennia since then, tea, especially green tea, has developed the reputation
as a healthful tonic. |
